Storm Peak Energy has permitted eight (8) new wells on its Culberson County, Texas properties. Four wells each were permitted on the Catclaw State and Culberson “X” leases. The company has contracted with Hobbs, New Mexico-based Cavaloz Drilling Company to drill the wells, utilizing Cavaloz’s Rig #2. Well TDs range from 3700’ to 4100’ and are planned to penetrate multiple potential pay horizons. The first well was spudded on September 23, 2010. Storm Peak Operations Vice President Mark Ellerbe said “We are pleased to have Cavaloz as a contractor on these wells. Their equipment is ideally suited for this application and operated by experienced crews. As we work through this drilling program there are a number of cost reduction ideas we plan to employ. I’m stoked.”
